The Juniper Cardi is a generously oversized cardigan. It features dramatic wide sleeves that are seamed on at the end as well as a loose stitch gauge for nice, drapey fabric. It’s the perfect layering piece and about as close to wearing a socially acceptable blanket as you can get (except you’ll look super cute!). The body of this sweater is worked all in one piece: first the back panel, then splitting for the 2 front panels. The Juniper Cardi is very beginner-friendly - if you can make a scarf, you can make this cardigan!
This project is perfect for those who love to crochet while you watch TV or do other things because there are no complicated stitch patterns to pay attention to! Once you get your first row completed you can just motor on without having to think about it or do any stitch counting.
This pattern has been professionally tech edited to be as correct as possible.
Size Inclusive Pattern
This sweater is meant to be generously oversized. The pattern is written in 2 different sizes. Size 2 can accommodate up to a 5XL bust size.
Size 1 (up to 46” bust) measures 30” in width laying flat, or 60” in circumference.
Size 2 (46” bust and larger) measures 34” in width laying flat or 68” in circumference.
You will need 10 (11) skeins of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn - I used the “Grey Marble” colourway - or 1325 (1480) yards of similar category 4, 100% acrylic yarn that matches gauge. Any worsted you have in your stash should work as long as you check your gauge!
Gauge: 4” = 10.5 edc x 5 rows.
